ALL PERSONS LIABLE TO PAY TAXES ON PERSONAL PROPERTY IN PROFESSIONAL, COMMERCIAL OR BUSINESS OCCUPATIONS IN THE TOWN OF PROSPECT, ARE HEREBY REQUIRED BY LAW TO RETURN TO THE ASSESSOR'S OFFICE ON OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 1, 2010 (UNLESS GRANTED AN EXTENSION BY THE ASSESSOR) A WRITTEN OR PRINTED LIST OF SUCH TAXABLE PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THEM ON THE 1ST DAY OF OCTOBER 2010.
THOSE FAILING TO MAKE SUCH A LIST WILL BE ASSESSED AN ADDITIONAL 25% PENALTY ACCORDING TO LAW.
THESE LISTS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE ASSESSOR'S OFFICE MONDAY - FRIDAY, 8:30 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M.
As required by state law, the Town of Prospect is revaluing all properties in town. Prospect's most recent revaluation was completed for October 1, 2005 Grand List.
eQuality Valuation Services, LLC has been contracted to assist the assessor in conducting the October 1, 2011 revaluation. Under the Assessor's supervision, eQuality will collect and analyze information about all properties. An important part of the valuation process involves measuring the outside and listing the interior of each improved parcel.A Data Collector will visit your property. Each Data Collector will carry photo identification and the original letter of introduction and have their cars registered with the Prospect Police Department. After making a complete inspection, the property owner will be asked to sign a form. The signature is only a verification and does not commit the homeowner in any way. The inspection will take between 10 to 15 minutes.
