The Prospect Parks and Recreation program is committed to providing a variety of leisure and recreational activities for the residents of Prospect. Our goal is to provide children and adults with motivating, educational, and interesting programs to encourage positive physical, emotional, and social experiences for our residents.

The Parks and Recreation Department along with the Resident Trooper's Office will be offering basic boating courses through the Connecticut DEP. Navigation rules, Connecticut Boating law, legal requirements, safety afloat and other topics that will help participants become safe, knowledgeable and responsible leaders will be covered.
Persons successfully completing the course will fulfill the requirements for the Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate or the Connecticut Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation. The course will be held at the Prospect Firehouse and there is a $20 fee for the course. Crazy Critters Club will be starting on March 19 through April 9 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Algonquin School. From Sap to Syrup/Tree-rific, learn the methods of maple sugaring. Learn how to determine how much syrup is in a tree. The program will run $45 per person for grades K through 2.
Toddler Time at Chapel Hall will begin on March 18 and continue through May 6 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. The program will consist of play groups, games, arts, crafts and story time for children ages 1 to 3. The fee for the program will be $45 for Prospect residents and $50 for non-residents.
Flanders Nature Center will be holding a Blue Bird Program for those adults who would like to do some bird watching. The program will consist of a talk on teh blue bird life cycle, a hike to view existing boxes, and participants will be able to assemble their own blue bird nest box to take home, made out of a kit which will be provided. The program will be held on Thursday, April 24, from 4 to 6 p.m. The fee for this program is $15 per person.
Grab the kids and head over to the Prospect Library for an evening of fun filled games and food. The Parks and Recreation Department along with the Prospect Library have joined together to bring you family game night, to enjoy those great board and card games we have all come to love. Experience this fun and exciting evening with your whole family. The event will be held on Thursday, April 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Prospect Library. All games will be provided and pizza will be served.
