easy to use for dinners, an office for Lucy Smegielski and a small meeting room so more than one activity
can go on at the same time. The building will open 9 am to 4 pm every day. If volunteers come forward it
might be open on weekends.
Mayor Bob spoke about the plans for the building of the Prospect Senior Center being started four years
ago. A grant was obtained by Grant Co-ordinator Gina Ash, from the State for $500,000. A grant was also
received for the tables and chairs in the Great Room. The town picked up the costs not covered by the State.
The Architect/Enginner is Lazarus & Sargeant LTD. General Contractor is Michael James Contracting.
A Dedication and Open House will take place October 28. There will be ribbon cutting, speeches by politicians,
a song by the Community School Glee Club and refreshments by the Dairy Bar. The Police Explorers will hold
open doors and show people where to park. The ceremonies for the Dedication will be at 2:00 P.M. And will
go until 5:00 p.m. for people to come and go.
Wreaths for decoration will be donated by Plumb Farms.
All of the meetings for Seniors now held elsewhere will be moved to the Senior Center. Plans for the future
included: Cable TV's up near the ceiling on two walls in the Great Room, a P.A. System, picinic tables for
the deck and barbecue grill. Shrubs and flowers will be planted in the spring. Older computers that have
been saved will be brought in for the Seniors to learn on, an online computer will be purchased next July for
