April 2 , 2001

The Prospect Commission on Aging meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by Chairperson Jeannette Lampron.

Members Present: Jeannette Lampron, Miriam Caouette, Joseph Lampron, Albert Miele, Michael Rutkowski, Ruby DeCosta

Members Absent: Jean Reilly, Richard Kuhn

Others Present: Lucy Smegielski, Bill Brown

A Motion was made by Michael Rutkowski, seconded by Albert Miele to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on February 5, 2001. Vote Unanimous.

A Motion was made by Miriam Caouette, seconded by Michael Rutkowski to approve the minutes of the Special Meeting on February 13, 2001. Vote Unanimous.

Director's Report: A Motion was made by Joseph Thompson, seconded by Albert Miele to accept the director's report of March 5, 2001 as read. Vote Unanimous. Bus reports for January, February, and March were handed out.

Old Business: A Grant from the State of Connecticut was obtained by Gina Ash for activites for seniors at the Prospect Senior Center, and a five hour a day part time position.

New Business: A discussion was held on allowing use of the Senior Center. Community meetings, no rentals and no alcohol use is recommended. A motion was made by Michael Rutkowski, seconded by Joseph Thompson to write up a policy for use of the Prospect Senior Center, to state who is allowed to use the facility. There will be a one word change in the job discription for Mini Bus Driver. It will say driver will take appointments on the bus. A motion was made by Joseph Thompson, seconded by Albert Miele to change one word from will not, to will take appointments. Vote Unanimous. Kaynor Tech. came to measure for cabinets, computer counters and bookcases that will be made for the Senior Center. At the present time private cars are used to transport Seniors to events outside the Center. Drivers volunteer rides when there are more people going than can fit on the bus. It was suggested to check if a rider on the insurance policy would protect the town. Jeannette will ask for a legal opinion. The Prospect Town Council met twice at the Senior Center for a tour and explanation of budget requests. Lucy requests the Commission to send thank you cards to people who helped out: Kaynor Tech. Beauty School, Tom Beard and Lucy's Dad, and a get well card for Dale Jackson as Fran was Chairperson for many years.

TRIAD Report: None

AARP Report: On May 11th there will be two speakers from the Connecticut Lights and Power Company on choosing your Eletric Company.

Senior Club Report: None

Public Participation: None

A Motion was made by Miriam Caouette, seconded by Joseph Thompson to adjurn the meeting at 10:50 am. Vote Unanimous.
