Director's Report: Lucy added to the printed Director's Report, book shelves have been ordered for the Library, Crafts Room. Kaynor Tech students weren't able to put in the shelves due to time limitations. Chesprocott comes to inspect the Center every quarter and the grade was 97 because of the spray hose at the sink. It is used to fill the coffee urns but Chesprocott is worried about back up. They suggested have a plumber come in and install special connection, but Lucy will use a pitcher to fill urns and have sprayer removed. The dishwasher isn't working right due to water not being hot enough so it will go into next cycle. The electrician recommended a booster, but if installed on water tank it would increase water temperature in all faucets. One on the dishwasher only is being looked into. The Mini-Bus failed the required state inspection so on Friday it is being pulled off the road to be worked on, and then re-inspected on the 15th. Murphy's repair bill for the Mini-Bus was questioned, the labor cost on removing tar from treads seemed to have an extra high labor cost. After looking at it more it seemed to work out. Lorraine was asked to ask for dates of service to be added to future bills. The tar in the treads threw the wheel out of alignment which caused vibration and had to be taken care of. Lucy asked for a ruling from the Commission for allowing non-residents to ride the Mini-Bus as space is available as it had been questioned. The bus is from a state grant so it is open to all. A motion was made by Miriam Caouette, seconded by Mike Rutkowski to approve the Director's Report as presented. Vote Unanimous. A motion was made by Mike Rutkowski, seconded by Miriam Caouette to accept the bus report as presented. Vote Unanimous.
Old Business: Proposal for use of the Senior Center: a motion was made by Miriam Caouette, seconded by Al Miele to accept the proposal for use of the Senior Center as written. Vote Unanimous. A sign will be installed at the Center to match the one at Town Hall. Enter and Exit signs are on order. The walkway still isn't resolved. Even if all parking spaces on both sides of the Center are used, parking is still limited.
New Business: Miriam Caouette wants the Commission to work on getting Senior Housing built in Prospect. In the past Lucy presented a petition to the Mayor and he set up a Commission to study it. Nothing has been heard since. Jeannette talked to Bill Donovan, Land Use Officer who says Senior Housing is going in on Old School House Road soon. But nothing is being done. Lucy asked if the Commission on Aging can start a petition and go to Town Council meetings to push for Senior Housing. When money is obtained from the Government or State, anyone can use it not just Propsect residents.
AARP Report: Next meeting September 7, 2001 at Fire House.
Senior Club Report: Picnic on August 14 at Volmar's Grove. The cost to join is $3.00 which goes for the Picnic and Christmas Party. Almost 300 people have joined and 60-70 are presented at meetings.
Public Participation: None
Lucy thanked the Commission members and Jeannette for the flowers for her Mother-in-law Mary Smegielski.
A motion was made by Mike Rutkowski, seconded by Jean Reilly to adjourn the meeting at 11:06 am. Vote Unanimous.
