The Prospect Commision on Aging meeting was called to order at 10:02 am by Chairperson Jeannette Lampron.

Others Present: Lucy Smegielski, Inez Bramhall, Bill Brown
A Motion was made by Ruby DeCosta, seconded by Miriam Caouette to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on April 2, 2001. Vote Unanimous.
Director's Report: Lucy reported two park benches for the deck were donated by the family of Madeline Colagrossi. Two tables with umbrellas were donated by the Prospect Senior Club. Noble H.B. A/C systems has to be called to reprogram the air conditioning each time it has to be reset because of the computerized system. A motion to accept the Director's Report and the Minibus Report was made by Joe Thompson, seconded by Al Miele. Vote Unanimous.
New Business: The Prospect Chamber of Commerce requests permission to have their Scholarship Dinner at the Prospect Senior Center on June 13th at 6:30 pm. This is to give out scholarships to high school seniors. A motion was made by Miriam Caouette to allow the Prospect Chamber of Commerce to use the Senior Center on that date, seconded by Joe Thompson. Vote Unanimous. Jeannette received a grant application from Naugatuck Savings Bank to apply for two new computers for the Senior Center. She also received a letter from the National Commission on Aging regarding legislation to expand ConnPace.
Old Business: The Proposal for use of the Senior Center is in the works and must still be approved. The legal opinion on the use of private cars to transport Seniors to outside functions is that the individuals car insurance will be liable. Jeannette brought in thank you cards to send to Tom Beard and Lucy's Dad, and a get well card for Dale Jackson to be signed by all present.

AARP Report: On May 11th there will be two speakers from the Connecticut Light and Power Company on choosing your Electric Company.
Senior Club Report: Richard Kuhn is concerned about not enough parking without using the former Fire House site. He wondered if a path could be cut through to that lot and be plowed in the winter.
Public Participation: Inez Bramhall spoke on behalf of Friends of the Library to ask about using the Senior Center for the Book Sale to be held in October. A discussion was held about allowing the general public with small children to use the rooms and the kitchen. The proposal for use of the Senior Center doesn't allow small children and the Commission was reminded this type of use would include small children. It was suggested this sale should be held in the Library to draw people in. A motion was made by Richard Kuhn, seconded by Miriam Cauoette to deny permission to the Friends of the Library for this use. Vote Unanimous. Jeannette will write a letter stating our position.
A motion was made by Joe Thompson, seconded by Al Miele to adjourn the meeting at 10:30 am. Vote Unanimous.
