The Prospect Commission on Aging Meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by Chairperson Jeannette Lampron.

Others Present: Lucy Smegielski, Bill Brown
A motoin was made by Miriam Caouette, seconded by Ruby DeCosta to approve the minutes of the regular meeting August 6, 2001. Vote Unanimous.
Director's Report: None written. Lucy reported $175 has been donated for the activity fund. These are memorials and gifts.
Bus Report: August and September. A motion was made by Mike Rutkowski, seconded by Joe Thompson to approve the bus report. Vote Unanimous.
Old Business: Nothing has been started on the Senior Housing. Miriam Caouette volunteered to circulate a petition for Senior Housing and Lucy Smegielski will write one up. Book shelves have been installed in the Library. The Library is a comfortable place to read or play cards. The Proposal for the 'Use of the Senior Center' is ready to be signed. The Entrance and Exit signs have been ordered and a donation made to pay for them.
New Business: Jeannette Lampron and Mike Rutkowski went to the Social Agency meeting put on by CL&P. They ordered books listing services available to seniors and low income. This includes a lot of information. They will be available at the Senior Center. Land is being filled in to provide 8 additional parking places behind the Senior Center. It will be ready in the spring. Lucy had someone directing traffic in the lot to prevent cars from exiting at the entrance and announced at the meeting not to use the entrance to exit but still there was almost an accident from someone going to wrong way. Mike Rutkowski suggested a california rake be installed that would shred tires but that was thought too drastic. Richard Kuhn pointed out that the arrow pointing out of the drive thru for the Senior Center located in the Police Dept. parkingn lot is also misused. The quilt made by the quilting group was dedicated at a luncheon on Monday Oct. 29, 2001. The beautiful quilt now hangs in the great room of the Senior Center. A Grant was received from Western Connecticut Agency on Aging for senior activities. A Grant for a new Mini-bus is in the works. The bus now has fourteen seats and it fills up fast.
AARP Report: On Nov. 2nd a catered turkey luncheon was held. A Christmas dinner is being planned at Manor Inn in December. The president of the club is Arlene Hughes.
Prospect Senior Club: The meetings are twice a month and they now have close to 300 members.
