The Prospect Commission on Aging meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by Jeannette Lampron, Chairperson.
Members Present: Jeannette Lampron, Albert Miele Sr., Joseph Thompson, Jean Reilly, Miriam Caouette, Ruby DeCosta, Richard Kuhn
Members Absent: Michael Rutkowski
Others Present: Lucy Smegielski, Bill Brown, Theresa Barile
A Motion was made by Miriam Caouette, seconded by Joe Thompson to approve the minutes of the regular meeting April 1, 2002. Vote Unanimous.
Director's Report: A Motion was made by Ruby DeCosta, seconded by Al Miele to accept the Director's Report. Vote Unanimous. The MiniBus Report is unavailable due to Lorriane Morris being on sick leave. She will train Toni Barnes to fill out a bus report on her return. Lucy is looking forward to a copier that can copy both sides at once for the Highlites.
Old Business: Lucy Smegielski, Senior Director will write a letter requesting permission to use a strip of Fire Department land next to Senior Center parking for Bocci and horseshoe courts.
New Business: Specifications have to be decided on for the new MiniBus before an order can be put in to obtain a new bus with a grant from the State. Rules were talked about for riders on the MiniBus. Lucy can't stop people from out of town using the bus as the Senior Center was built with State money. It was suggested Prospect people call to sign up for events as soon as the Senior Highlites comes out each month to avoid disappointments. Once the capacity of the hall is reached Lucy can only put people on a waiting list to be called if someone cancels.
AARP: Installation of officers June 12, at 1 pm at Manor Inn, Southington for reservations call Vicki, 757-1748. The annual picnic will be in July.
Prospect Senior Club: Richard Kuhn is the acting President, Inez Bramhall is now secretary of the club.
Public Participation: Theresa Barile suggested a letter be put in Highlites explaining the rules of the MiniBus and urging Prospect people to signn up early for the MiniBus. The Prospect Senior Highlites is considered the best Senior Newsletter.
A Motion was made by Joe Thompson, seconded by Al Miele to adjourn the meeting at 10:37 am. Vote Unanimous.
