WINTER WEATHER POLICY: In case of inclement weather this winter season, please tune in to your local television or radio stations for cancellation or delayed opening announcements. You can get storm information on TV channels 3 & 8 and on WTIC 1080 radio.

We follow the Prospect school district (Region 16) policy. If schools are closed for our district, the Senior Center is also closed and there is no bus service available through the Senior Center that day. When Region 16 calls for a delay in school opening, the Senior Center will still be open as usual at 9:00 a.m. Classes and programs for that day will be held at the discretion of the instructor. Please call the Center ahead of time to see if your class of program will be held. Senior Center bus service will operate as usual on these days.

The Senior Center will be closed on February 13th and February 20th in observance of the the holidays.

Monday thru Friday: Hot, nutritious meals served at 11:30 a.m. (Federally funded Elderly Nutrition Program for those over the age of 60 - Reservations Required)
Reservations: One day in advance - 9:00 a.m. to noon Donation: $2.25 per meal
Weekly: Art Class, Computer Class, Yoga, Line Dancing, Tai Chi, Bingo
Monthly: Newsletter - Available at Town Hall, Oliver's Supermarket or The Center
Miscellaneous: Board of Recreation sponsored programs; Pot-Luck luncheons several times a year; Health Related Seminars, Summer Picnic, Holiday Parties, Films, Sing-A-Long, Trips, Fundraisers

FEBRUARY Updates

CHOCOLATE LOVER'S EXPO

Join the Center on Sunday, February 12, 2012 from 11 am to 3 pm for the 19th Annual Chocolate Lover's Expo Gifts and More to benfit the Easter Seals. It will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Southbury.

This one of a kind expo offers vendors the opportunity to showcase their assortment of chocolate delights and other specialty food items, unique gifts, products and services just in time for Valentine's Day.

Be ready to meet and leave the Center at 10:30 am. Once at the Expo, Seniors are free to wander on their own through the exhibits. At 1 pm we will meet again at the Mini Bus and head to Paisano's Restaurant in Waterbury for a quick bite to eat. The cost for the expo is $20 and this does not include your lunch. The $20 fee is only for admission into the expo. After lunch, the bus will bring Seniors back to the Center by about 3:30 pm. Please sign up and pay as soon as possible. We cannot hold seats for the trip without payment.

Dial-A-Ride REMINDER

FREE Bus Dial-A-Ride Transportation is available for Seniors. The program allows disabled residents and senior citizens age 60 and over the opportunity to go shopping , make medical appointments and visit other locations within the region's coverage area in Cheshire, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Prospect, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown, and Wolcott. The program is on a first come first serve basis. For more information, contact the Prospect Senior Center at 758-5300.

Common wheelchairs and certain scooters can be brought along on the bus, as well as personal care attendants accompanying eligible participants. Residents do not have to be a member of the Prospect Senior Center to apply, and the service is also available for non-senior residents who are disabled.
