The Board of Recreation meeting was called to order by Mike Palmerie, Jr., and seconded by Mary Gluck at 7:11 pm.

Guest / Public Participation:
AnneMarie and Jerry Burr presented dates for a Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony of the skate park. They would like to see a date set for August 16, 2008 from 4 pm to 7 pm with a raindate of August 17 from 4 pm to 7 pm. They said refreshments will be served and tee shirts will be handed out to children who attend the opening of the skate park. The Police Explorers will DJ the event. They indicated that the Skate Park Committee would be purchasing two 8 foot benches and two 8 foot picnic tables similar to what is already at Hotchkiss Field. They would like to have a donor plaque on each bench - one bench would have a plaque with the name of Mr. Walters and the other bend would have a plaque bearing the name of American Savings Foundation. Also, the committee would like to purchase various signs to be placed in and around the park. The Board will purchase garbage cans to be placed around the skate park. Also it will be made clear on any signage that only SKATEBOARDS AND ROLLERBLADES WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE SKATE PARK.
Correspondence/Payment of Bills:
Chris Moffo received bills and paid them. Motion made by William Sereduck and seconded by Sharon Abney to pay bills as presented by Chris Moffo. The motion passed.
Approval of Minutes:
A motion was made to amend the Agenda to include approval of minutes by Mike Palmerie, seconded by Sharon Abney. Motion passed.
Bill Sereduck made a motion to approve the April 9, 2008 minutes, seconded by Sharon Abney. Motion passed.
Program Director's Report:
Chris Moffo presented and reviewed the Program Director's Report.
Old Business:
A bid was put together for the fencing at the Skate Park. Chris Moffo will have it published in the Waterbury Republican with bids dur at Town Hall by June 24, 2008. The bid opening will be June 24, 2008 at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
Purchase of Skate Park equipment - Chris Moffo will contact Todd at American Ramp to place the order.
Pool tournament at the Senior Center. Dick Cipriano had mentioned at the May meeting he would like to see if the Board would be willing to purchase trophies for pool tournaments held at the Senior Center. Dince Dick Cipriano was not in attendance tonight's meeting, this action was tabled until the July meeting.
Dog Park and Baseball Field are tabled.
New Business:
Discussion ensued regarding the Skate Park Committee and what they have offered to purchase for the Skate Park re: landscaping, signage, benches and picnic tables.
Chris Moffo brought up the walking path leading from the lower parking lot at Town Hall to McGrath Field. After discussion, it was decided that before this project could get off the ground, the Dog Park would need to be finalized.
