Prospect Public Library
October 11, 2001
Chairman S. McKernan called a meeting of the Prospect Public Library to order at 7:08 p.m.
Members Present: S. McKernan, K. Senese, T. Marczewski, J. Reilly, J. Kennelly (left
at 7:42 p.m.), D. Merriman (arrived at 7:30 p.m.)
Members Absent: T. Misset, C. Moschella, K. Graveline
Others Present: B. Peterson
Public Participation: None
Correspondence: A letter was received from Becky Farina announcing her resignation.
A motion to discuss the letter as new business was made by J. Kennelly, second by T. Marczewski.
Motion carried unanimously.
The next regular meeting date is Thursday November 8, 2001.
Approval of Minutes: T. Marczewski made a motion to accept the minutes of September
13, 2001 as presented. Motion seconded by K. senese. Motion carried unanimnously.
Treasurers Report:The Treasurer's report (prepared by B. Peterson) was reviewed
and discussed, T. Marczewski made a motion to approve the Treasurer's report as presented.
J. Kennelly seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Librarians Report: Dora Sambuco has been hired as the new Library Page and is to
begin in this position on Monday, October 15, 2001. General discussion of the Librarians written
report. T. Marczewski made a motion to accept the Librarians report as presented. J. Reilly
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Library Bills: T. Marczewski made a motion to pay the library bills as presented.
Seconded by J. Reilly. Motion carried unanimously.
Chairman's Report: A reminder to all Board members that the Friends of the Library
is holding their book sale on October 20, 2001.
Old Business:
Technology Report: general discussion took place regarding the updating of the Statewide
Library Catalog ReQuest.
Library Sponsored Programs:
J. Kennelly made a motion to amend paragraph #3 of the document titled Library
Sponsored Programs so that it reads as the rewritten paragraph as prepared by
Carmody & Torrance LLP. Seconded by J. Reilly. Motion carried unanimously. Change to be
effective in 30 days.
Internet Concerns:
Any violations requiring fines will be dealt with by a letter being sent by the Town to the
offender. Regarding any fines collected those funds would go to the Town's account.
New Business:
J. Reilly made a motion to accept the resignation of Becky Farina as Library Page. Seconded
by D. Merriman. Motion carried unanimously.
General Discussion regarding repainting the community room.
D. Merriman made a motion to adjourn at 7:55 p.m. Seconded by K. Senese. Motion carried
unanimously.
