The Prospect Public Library Board of Directors meeting was called to order by Chairperson Susan H. McKernan, at 7:08 p.m. at the Prospect Public Library.

Approval of Previous Minutes December 11, 2008: A general discussion was held. Chairperson Susan H. McKernan amended the Chairman’s Report to read “ Thank you to Carole Moschella and Judy Kennelly for organizing the Christmas breakfast for the staff. Thank you to Barbara Smith and Loren Webber for decorations in the Library.” Motion by Suzanne Loud, seconded by Ira Kamm to approve the minutes as amended. Motion Unanimous.

Treasurer’s Report:
A general discussion was held. A motion was made by Suzanne Loud to accept the January, 2009 Treasurer’s report, seconded by Judy Kennelly. Motion Unanimous.

Librarian’s Report:
A general discussion was held. A motion was made by Lorraine Dixon to accept the Librarian’s report, seconded by Ira Kamm. Motion Unanimous.

Approval of Bills:
A general discussion was held. Motion by Lorraine Dixon to accept the bills for payment as presented, seconded by Kathleen Graveline. Motion Unanimous.

Chairman’s Report:
The Library was closed on January 7, 2009 due to the weather conditions for the safety of the Library staff and patrons. Chairperson Susan H. McKernan is drafting a letter to send to the Town Council explaining that due to the budget cuts in the past two years to the proposed Library budgets by the Town, the Library is not eligible to receive a state grant which in the past has averaged $1600.00 per fiscal year.

Old Business:
A general discussion was held on the proposed final draft for the 2009-2010 Library Budget. Motion by Lorraine Dixon to approve the revised proposed Library budget for 2009-2010, seconded by Carole Moschella. Motion Unanimous.

New Business:
None

A motion was made at 8:01 p.m. by Nancy Via to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ira Kamm. Motion Unanimous.
