Board of Directors Meeting - UN-Approved Minutes

MARCH 11, 2010

The Prospect Public Library Board of Directors meeting was called to order by Chairperson Susan H. McKernan, at 7:00 p.m. at the Prospect Public Library.

Members Present: Susan H. McKernan, Lorraine Dixon, Kathy Graveline, Ira Kamm, Judy Kennelly, Suzanne Loud, Carole Moschella, Nancy Via

Members Absent: Kathleen Greene

Others Present: Barbara Smith, Loren Webber

Next Meeting Date: Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Prospect Public Library.

Approval of Previous Minutes February 11, 2010: A general discussion was held. Nancy Via moved that the minutes be approved as presented, seconded by Lorraine Dixon. Motion Unanimous.

Treasurer’s Report:
A general discussion was held. A motion was made by Ira Kamm to accept the March, 2010 Treasurer’s report, seconded by Carole Moschella. Motion Unanimous.

Librarian’s Report:
A general discussion was held. Barbara Smith shared comments made by patrons of the Library Snapshot Day held February 18th. Barbara also contacted Channel 8 regarding Library closings and she is waiting for them to get back to her. Fox 61 told her they do not report library closings. She still needs to contact NBC Channel 4. A motion was made by Judy Kennelly to accept the March, 2010 Librarian’s report, seconded by Suzanne Loud. Motion Unanimous.

Approval of Bills:
A general discussion was held. Barbara explained the contract with Dependable Fuel is a service contract as opposed to a preventative maintenance contract. Chairperson Susan McKernan asked Barbara to obtain quotes from other companies over the next week to compare with the quote from Dependable Fuel. Motion by Carole Moschella to accept the bills for payment as presented, seconded by Lorraine Dixon. Motion Unanimous.

Chairman’s Report:
Chairperson Susan McKernan met with Mayor Chatfield regarding the Town’s website. Only the minutes of the Library Board meetings will be posted on the Town’s website. Clerk Anne Marie Burr is to email minutes of meetings to Megan Fortier. Any other questions on the Library will be directed to the Library’s website by a link posted on the Town’s website.

New Business:
A general discussion was held on the proposed revision to Library Policies on Library Cards.

A general discussion was held on the proposed revision to Library Policies on Checking Out Material & Loan Periods and Limits.

A general discussion was held regarding the 20th Anniversary Celebration for the Prospect Public Library. The celebration will take place in June, 2011.

Good of the Order:
Lorraine Dixon and Nancy Via shared information that the Prospect Historical Society will be holding a Revolutionary War re-enactment on October 8th, 9th and 10th.

A motion was made by Nancy Via at 7:58 p.m. to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Ira Kamm. Motion carried unanimously.
