ARC of CT, formerly the Association for Retarded Citizens/Connecticut, is a private, nonprofit advocacy organization committed to protecting the rights of people with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and increasing opportunities for their full inclusion in community life. It seeks to accomplish its goals through public education, advocacy efforts, and legislative action. Board of Education and Services for the Blind

The Connecticut Board of Education and Services for the Blind is the lead state agency in serving adults who are blind and children who are blind or visually impaired. The agency's primary goal is to help adults and children achieve and maintain their independence and self-sufficiency as fully contributing members of an integrated society. Commission on the Deaf and Hearing Impaired (CDHI)

CDHI serves deaf and hard of hearing persons with hearing losses ranging from slight to profound as well as the hearing community who live and work with persons with hearing disabilities. Connecticut Association for Children with Learning Disabilities (CACLD)

CACLD is a regional, nonprofit organization providing support and information to benefit children and adults with learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders. CACLD offers newsletters, conferences, reprints, workshops, consultations, education, referrals, advocacy, and research for families and professionals. Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation (DMR)

DMR purchases or provides supports and services for Connecticut citizens of all ages with mental retardation. These include family supports, case management, day programs, employment supports, community-based residential supports, and clinical services.
