The Special Town Council Meeting was called to order by Chair Cynthia Gibbons at 7:37 P.M. Members present: Theresa Graveline, Patricia Geary, Shirley Sabo, Cynthia Gibbons, Frank Bainer, Robert Doyon, Delores Franks & Edward Miller. Absent: Gary Hodge.
Call of the meeting: Consideration and possible action of proposed purchase of property at 13-13A Center Street, property owned by Debra Neigel.
Theresa Graveline reviewed process: Title Search shows that 13A Center Street (20X90 Strip) (See Map Schedule "A" attached) belongs to Armand not Debra Neigel, Town Attorney continuing title search. Price for strip $4,000. On the advise of Attorney Yarbrough determined that town should not have the Town Meeting next Tuesday as voted at the last Regular Council meeting. Cynthia Gibbons pointed out that purpose today would allow more to continue title search. Theresa Graveline has not spoken to the real estate agent, waiting to obtain more information from the town attorney and eventually possibly withdraw offer to purchase.
MOTION made by Delores Franks seconded by Patricia Geary to cancel the Town Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 5, 2000 @ 7 P.M. Shirley Sabo questioned price and if committee has approached zoning as to whether it is a buildable lot since it has a mobile home on it and whether it would be grandfathered in. Theresa Graveline spoke to Zoning prior to making any offer and it was determined that it is a buildable lot but still subject to required setbacks. Theresa Graveline will follow up prior to Tuesday's September 5th Regular Meeting. Edward Miller questioned if could possibly come back with a lower offer if strip is not included in the purchase.
Theresa Graveline referred to fax from Attorney Yarbrough, (Schedule "B" attached). MOTION UNANIMOUS to cancel the Town Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 5, 2000.
