The Town Council meeting was called to order by Joseph Commendatore, Chair at 7:45 p.m.
Members Present: Joseph Commendatore, Patricia Geary, Theresa Graveline, Roger Kergaravat, Douglas Merriman, Dominic Mirabelle and Dominic Moschella
Members Absent: Frederick Harkins and Robert Doyon
Budget Workshop: Mayor Chatfield requested the Council to consider increasing line item 7150-04 – Fuel, $5,000.00 due to the rising cost of gasoline.
Motion made by D. Moschella to increase line item 7150-04 $5,000.00 and changing the name of line item 7150-06 from Automation to Computer. Motion seconded by T. Graveline. Unanimous
Motion made by D. Moschella to increase line item 7350-00 – Librarian to $48,000.00. There was no second on this motion. Motion fails
Motion made by T. Graveline to include PT following Deputy – Inspectors on line item 6650-07 under Fire Marshal and place parentheses around SM on line item 6950-10 – Leaves. Motion seconded by D. Merriman. Unanimous
P. Geary stated she is not happy with the increase under Police, line item 6700-12 Office Manager. She believes this position’s salary is too high.,
Motion made by R. Kergaravat to change line item 7150-00 – Maintenance to Fleet Maintenance. Motion seconded by P. Geary. Unanimous
D. Mirabelle requested the Council address the comments made during the public hearing concerning crack seal.
J. Commendatore agreed that this is a nuisance and is messy; however he has noticed the difference it has made on the roads where it has been done. No further comments.
Motion made by D. Merriman to send the 2006-2007 budget to Town Meeting on May 4, 2006. Motion seconded by D. Mirabelle. Unanimous
Motion made by D. Merriman to approve the April 4, 2006 budget workshop minutes. Motion seconded by T. Graveline. Motion discussed.
R. Kergaravat corrected page 5, paragraph 6 to read – “R. Kergaravat commented that Beacon Falls is a smaller town and has a full-time police department.”
This motion is unanimous to approve the April 4, 2006 budget workshop minutes as amended.
Motion made by T. Graveline to approve the April 4, 2006 minutes. Motion seconded by D. Mirabelle. Unanimous
D. Mirabelle stated he will be not be at the May 2, 2006 Town Council meeting.
Motion made by D. Merriman to adjourn. Motion seconded by T. Graveline. Unanimous
