Approved Minutes - September 26, 2008

The Ordinance Sub-Committee of the Prospect Town Council will met to discuss the following topics. The meeting started with the Pledge of Allegiance at 10:00am.
1. Minutes from the September 12th meeting were reviewed and approved with one spelling correction.
2. No decisions were made with respect to potential changes to the assessing / collecting taxes for 1) veterans or 2) seniors but there was discussion as to an article in the paper regarding pending changes in Beacon Falls. As Beacon Falls shares the same regional school district, there will almost certainly be some comparisons made by the public. We again discussed the possibility of extending or expanding the options for reducing property taxes for some seniors or veterans based on income and/or length of residence. Diane will gather more information as to the practices of other towns, and Vin will look for more detail on the current approach.
3. Bill Donovan will follow up with our lawyers as to their progress in putting together a new / separate ordinance to allow a $150 a day fine for Inland Wetland violations.
4. We agreed that our next meeting will be on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 9:30 am in Town Hall. Please note the earlier starting time. The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 am.
