Town of Prospect-Boards & Commissions

Prospect Town Council

Approved Minutes - Special Meeting

October 27,2010

Chairman Tom Galvin called the meeting to order @ 4:00 P.M. The meeting was held at the Town Hall, lower level conference room.

Members Present: S. Pilat 4:02 P.M., D. Merriman, R. Doyon, J. Slapikas, T. Graveline, M. Scaviola, P. Geary and T. Galvin
Members Absent: C. Graveline

T. Galvin gave to Tammy L. Deloia, of the Land Use Department, a letter of acknowledgment on behalf of the Prospect Town Council, for her Certification as a Zoning Enforcement Technician. T. Galvin stated that the "Town Council of Prospect wants to acknowledge your personal initiative and say Thank you for all you do in helping to keep Prospect the 'Best Small Town in Connecticut'".

T. Galvin requested a motion from the Council to approve a Resolution for the application for a grant in the amount of $200,000.00 for the Public Works Garage, at 221 Cheshire Road, Prospect, CT. Motion made by D. Merriman to approve the Resolution dated October 27,2010 that states: 'whereas, it is desirable and in the public interest that the Town of Prospect make an application to the State for $200,000.00 in order to construct a Public Works Garage, at 221 Cheshire Road, Prospect, and to execute an Assistance Agreement and that Mayor Robert J. Chatfield is directed to execute and file such application.' Motion seconded by J. Slapikas. Discussion. P. Geary stated that neither she nor Bob Doyon, both Subcommittee members for Public Works, had been notified of a grant application for a new Public Works garage. P. Geary stated she supports the building itself, but would like to be included in the planning, otherwise then perhaps there is not a need for the Sub-Committee. T. Galvin stated that the 1st step would be for planning and that both P. Geary and Bob Doyon will be notified for the Public Works Sub-Committee to meet to discuss the plans. Unanimous.

T. Graveline suggested that the Sub-Committee of the Public Works should meet with the company making the plans, not after, so that any input or modifications could be discussed prior to finalizing the plans.

T. Galvin asked the Council if they would prefer to cancel the next Town Council meeting of November 2,2010 being that it would be Election Day. Council members did not see a need to cancel the meeting. The next regular scheduled meeting of the Prospect Town Council will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 @ 7:00 P.M. at Prospect Town Hall.

Motion made by D. Merriman to adjourn the meeting. Motion seconded by R. Doyon. Unanimous. Meeting adjourned @ 4:17 P.M.
