Prospect Town Council

April 20, 2010

Chairman Thomas Galvin called the meeting to order at 7:53 p.m. The meeting was held at Community School immediately following the Town Meeting.

Members Present:
T. Gavlin, S. Pilat, D. Merriman, M. Scaviola, R. Doyon, J. Slapikas, P. Geary, C. Graveline and T. Graveline.

Members Absent: None

Mayor's Report:
T. Galvin, Chairman of the Prospect Town Council advised, after 33 years of putting the Town of Prospect first before family, Mayor Robert J. Chatfield would not be attending the meeting tonight due to the serious illness of his mother.

T. Galvin requested a motion to empower Mayor Chatfield to enter into the Police Assistance Agreement between three towns: Prospect, Bethany and Beacon Falls. Discussion: Council members questioned the effect of one Town pulling out of the "Agreement" would extend for five years. Motion made by D. Merriman to empower Mayor Robert J. Chatfield to enter into a "Police Assistance Intermunicipal Agreement among the Towns of Prospect, Bethany and Beacon Falls." Motion seconded by R. Doyon. Unanimous

T. Galvin stated Mayor Chatfield had received a letter from the State of Connecticut Department of Public Safety, advising of a rebate in the amount of $2,935.05 for the 09-10 fiscal year. The rebate will show as a reduction of the Town Resident Trooper's annual costs.

T. Galvin also advised Mayor Chatfield had received a letter from the State of Connecticut D.O.T. regarding authorization to advertise for construction bids for the Straitsville Road project.

T. Galvin requested a motion to approve the appointment recommended by the Republican Town Committee for Kevin Clifford of 47 Highland Dr. as an alternate on P&Z. Motion made by R. Doyon to approve the appointment of Mr. Kevin Clifford, 47 Highland Dr. as an alternate on Prospect's Planning and Zoning Commission. Motion seconded by C. Graveline. Unanimous
