Presidential Primary

If you are seventeen (17) years of age turning eighteen (18) by Election Day, November 3, 2020, you are eligible to vote in Primaries.

THERE IS NO ELECTION DAY REGISTRATION FOR PRIMARIES.  PLEASE NOTE THE REGISTRATION DEADLINES.

May 11, 2020
  • Monday: Deadline for enrolled party members to transfer from one party to the other, for voting in their "new" party's presidential primary.
  • July 21, 2020
  • Tuesday: Absentee ballots available from Town Clerk.
  • July 28, 2020
  • Tuesday: Mandatory enrollment session for primary from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Registrars of Voters office..
  • August 6, 2020
  • Thursday: Deadline for new voters, and for unaffiliated voters (by mail and online), to enroll in a party for voting in its primary.
    • For new voters, mail-in application must be postmarked, or received by Registrar of Voters or voter registration agency, by this date.
    • For unaffiliated voters, the mail-in application must be received (not merely postmarked) by the Registrar of Voters by this deadline.
    August 10, 2020
  • Monday, 12:00 noon: In-person enrollment deadline, for new voters and unaffiliated voters enrolling in a party in person at Town Hall, for voting in primary.
  • August 11, 2020
  • Tuesday: Presidential Preference Primary. Polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • REGISTRATION AND ENROLLMENT CUT-OFF (BY-MAIL)- PRIMARY.  Deadline for registering and/or enrolling for voting in primary for state, district or municipal office unless register in person with town clerk or registrar or unless file application for enrollment in person with registrar of voters. (9-23g, 9-56 and 9-57).
